We are seeking a skilled Tool-Maker / Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong technical background, and a passion for creating high-quality machined parts.
Position Summary : The Tool-Maker / Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining various machine tools to produce precision parts, tooling, and molds.
This role requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to read blueprints, use precision measuring instruments, and apply advanced machining techniques.
Key Responsibilities :
- Machining Operations : Operate and maintain manual tooling machines, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines is a plus, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
- Blueprint Interpretation : Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Precision Measurement : Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to ensure parts meet exact specifications and tolerances.
- Quality Control : Conduct thorough inspections of machined Tooling and Molds to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Perform adjustments to machinery and tooling as needed to maintain product quality.
- Programming : Write and edit CNC programs to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency. Solid Works, Gibbs Cam, and Auto-Cad is a plus
- Tooling Setup : Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for machining operations. Set up machines and adjust controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
- Materials : Steel H-13, P-20, S-7, etc.
- Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure the workspace is clean and organized.
- Continuous Improvement : Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
Qualifications :
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or technical school training preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 4 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machines. Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
- Computer Skills : Familiarity with CNC programming software and CAD / CAM software is a plus.
- Analytical Skills : Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical Stamina : Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
- Communication : Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
Working Conditions :
- Environment : Manufacturing floor with exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, and materials.
- Hours : Full-time position with overtime. Shop is opened 5 : 00am to 6 : 00pm. Set Schedule within those hours are negotiable.
