Role Overview & Desired Qualities
The Executive Director is the principal professional staff member of the Hyattsville CDC and reports to the CDC's Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for the implementation of the CDC's policies, its strategic planning; the execution of its mission; and has a critical, publicly-visible role requiring strong business acumen and leadership.
The Executive Director is responsible for managing the CDC's overall operations and programs, its external relations, its funding and resource development, and its financial administration. The Executive Director directs the staff and the consultants of the Hyattsville CDC, and with the Board of Directors, will be a collaborative partner in developing strategies to further the mission of the Hyattsville CDC.

The Executive Director will generally oversee the CDC's grant-driven and mission-derived programming, currently including:
· Implementation of the Hyattsville CDC's Economic Development Programming
· Development of a multi-focused area Market Study
· Concluding the Route 1 Corridor/Downtown Hyattsville Catalyst Project
· Implementing programming specifically geared towards West Hyattsville Small Business Assistance
· Construction and Project Management of the Trolley Trail Mural Wall
· Public Arts Promotion

Specific Areas of Responsibility
Organizational Management:
· Oversee the financial management for the corporation, including the preparation of annual operating budgets and the production of monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors, other funders and stakeholders.
· Hire, supervise and motivate contractors, interns, and staff. Create a positive work
environment that encourages teamwork, effectiveness and productivity for the CDC's
board, its staff, and its partners.
· Maintain the CDC in good legal standing and compliance in all aspects of its business and
activities.
· Attend Board meetings and ensure the preparation of Meeting Minutes.
Program and Project Management:
· Initiate and oversee the execution, management and documentation of grant-funded programs to the Board of Directors, external funders and partners.
· Initiate development projects that bring funding to the CDC and build its reputation.
· Develop and maintain mission-related programs that meet the needs of the CDC's diverse constituents.
Strategic Planning:
· Recommend projects to the Board of Directors that allow the corporation to maintain a healthy pipeline of commercial development and redevelopment as well as arts-related opportunities in Hyattsville and its broader service areas.
· Periodically review and update the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the Hyattsville CDC with the Board of Directors. Regularly review the mission, goals and objectives to assure the CDC stays on track.
Community and Economic Development Program Management:
Prepare proposals, manage grants and contracts, provide outreach and leadership to the community. Develop market studies, specific project feasibility studies, and help secure financing and technical assistance for projects or small businesses within our service area. Be aware of and able to track, interpret and influence local and regional market dynamics in order to ensure relevant economic development programming.
Construction Program Management:
Develop feasibility studies and pro formas, form and manage development teams, provide on-site management of project sites for development, construction and rehabilitation projects.
Public Relations:
· Build, maintain and promote communication and positive relationships with residents,
neighborhood groups, community institutions, government bodies, government agencies, businesses, funders, lenders and the media.
· Represent the corporation in various meetings and processes.
Position Requirements:
Experience:
· Experience with funding development, strategic planning, personnel management, program and financial management and/or professional responsibility that otherwise demonstrates the ability to fulfill the requirements of the position.
· Keen knowledge of City, County and State funders, with strong relationships within Hyattsville, Prince George's County and the State of Maryland.
· Knowledge of and experience with financial programs and principles relating to development, small business assistance, and housing opportunities.
· Hard experience delivering small business start-ups, operations, and expansions.
· Experience with the Prince George’s County planning, zoning, and development process: including the Gateway Arts District and Transit Districts.
· Experience with all aspects of public placemaking, event management, public art funding and development, and promoting the arts as a key component for community revitalization and development.
· Experience working with volunteer groups and the public.
· Experience in working with a community-based board of directors.
Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to embrace and implement the vision of the board through strong leadership.
· High level of interpersonal skills.
· Strong fundraising and financial management skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
· Ability to interpret regulations and documents associated with grant regulations, as well as land use, economic and community development.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000/annum commensurate with experience
