    The Empire State Divisional Headquarters is seeking a temporary Human Resources Generalist for assignment up to and possibly beyond year end. This is a terrific opportunity to work with an excellent team of professionals in all aspects of Human Resources. This would be an excellent opportunity for a student in a human resources curriculum or recent grad, all the way to seasoned professional seeking an interim assignment.

    SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Responsible for assisting the DHQ Human Resource department that supports nearly 500 full and part time staff within the Empire State Division. Primary responsibilities for posting positions, creation of offer letters as well as conducting required background checks. Updating ADP HRIS with employee changes.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Working with hiring managers and following established policies and procedures develops hiring plans and tools needed for open and or new positions.
    • Updates and maintains documents, such as job descriptions and forms as needed to ensure efficient and effective process. Represents the organization in a positive manner providing organization information, opportunities available.
    • Attracts diverse and qualified applicant pool by posting positions to web site, job boards and social media sites.
    • Creates and posts advertisements for positions.
    • In a timely manner, tracks and reviews applicant activity and documents.
    • Assists with annual summer camp and Kettle campaign staffing.
    • Conducts all background screening including volunteers for Corps, Business Areas, and Service Units.
    • Ensures integrity of the hiring process by monitoring consistency of information provided to applicants, evaluation of applicant education, experience, and skills in relation to job qualifications, interview questions, etc.
    • Communicates, recommends, and gets necessary approvals throughout hiring process in relationship to background check process, salary recommendations, start dates, etc.
    • Ensures compliance with all internal and external hiring requirements and procedures including documentation and appropriate timing.
    • Reviews and audits all documents for accuracy and to ensure employee file is complete.
    • Assist with all Human Resource functions as needed in order to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of services to all external and internal customers.
    • Demonstrate cultural competence, and support Empire State Division Strategic objectives.

    SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.

    · Strong customer service orientation.

    · Recruitment and interviewing skills.

    · Knowledge and experience as an ADP practitioner with ADP Workforce Now software preferred.

    · Knowledge and ability to produce spreadsheets and documents in Excel and Word.

    · Knowledge of ICIMS recruiting software preferred.

    · SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.

    · Strong skills in organization, written and oral communications are required.

    · Ability to interpret policies and technical and detailed guidelines.

    · Must be able to juggle shifting priorities.

    · Attention to detail a must.

    · A valid driver’s license with no major restriction and which must be acceptable to our insurance carrier.
