Traffic Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the traffic operations function of an organization. Responsible for all aspects of routing, shipping, logging, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Being a Traffic Clerk contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Traffic Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Dispatch

    • Intake daily job orders from emails and phone calls
    • Answer inquiries from customers about our services and availability
    • Create daily schedule in order to assign flaggers to job requests
    • Send daily schedule to flaggers and record confirmation or denial of shifts
    • Efficiently schedule flaggers to jobs by seniority, ability, availability and personality traits
    • Revise and update schedule with client changes and requests
    • Communicate reroutes and schedule changes to flaggers in the field
    • Replace flaggers who are sick or need to be removed from a job
    • Monitor flagger phone for updates and questions from flaggers
    • Trouble shoot job issues with Equipment/Safety Manager
    • Send daily dispatch report

    Office

    • Document flagger no shows, call ins and tardiness
    • Maintain inventory of blank timesheets
    • Assist with locating missing or incomplete timesheets
    • Maintain flaggers contact information
    • File and scan equipment documents
    • Other administrative tasks as needed
    • QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    High School Education or GED.

    PREFERRED SKILLS
    Mastery of English Language, Basic Computer Skills, Prior Dispatching Preferred, but not required

    ADDITIONAL NOTES

    • We are looking for a positive attitude and balanced disposition. Everything else can be learned and we are willing to train the right candidate.
    • This position reports directly to HR

    SCHEDULE:

    • Part time Monday through Friday approximately 2 pm to 6 p.m. On call phone on evenings and weekends occasionally.

    COMPENSATION:

    • $20 per hour. Paid weekly.
