Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Traffic Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Additionally, we offer a creative, flexible, supportive and fun environment!Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as traffic studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, safety audits, intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic and signal operations analysis.
- Manage private planning projects
- Assisting in outside contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Capital improvement planning including providing cost estimates, feasibility studies, and developing recommendations and innovative solutions
- Obtaining, analyzing, and interpreting demographic and other regional transportation planning data.
- Assisting in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
- Reviewing construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
- Serving as on-site project representative.
Job Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- EIT, FE, or PE (not required, but preferred)
- PTOE (or trending) preferred
- Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation or AutoCAD or OpenRoads)
- Experienced with NCDOT and/or SCDOT projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Driver’s License
