May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Traffic Manager typically reports to a director. The Traffic Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Court Case Manager 1 - (Multiple Vacancies) Anchorage Criminal & Traffic Division

  • The Criminal & Traffic Division of the Anchorage Trial Court is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 1 (range 10).  This position will be responsible for file maintenance and processing of the criminal and traffic caseload.

    ** Employees working in this job classification will be considered for annual salary increases upon successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. This job classification will promote to salary range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court. **
     
    Criminal Division
     
    • Accept charging documents for filing, assign case numbers, set up case files, and calendar cases for arraignment;    
    • Coordinate prisoner transport with local transport sections and correctional facilities for in-custody arraignments;    
    • Enter identifying data into index at start of each case; enter arraignment calendaring information, bond status, arrest/bench warrant information, and prepare same for issue;    
    • Review files for accuracy; type and issue warrants/summons/orders to show cause as ordered by the judge or magistrate on record;    
    • Prepare files for next court proceeding; close case files and ensure they are in proper order in compliance with existing procedures.

     Traffic Division
     
    • Provide accurate and concise information to the public regarding policies and procedures; assist and direct clients to the proper location for hearings and to related agencies;    
    • Receive and receipt fines from the public on citations within the jurisdiction; prepare or assist in the preparation of paperwork to request a court appearance, enter a plea, request a continuance, reopen a case, etc.    
    • Utilize APSIN (Alaska Public Safety Information Network) system and menus for status and research of citations and DMV information as required; maintain APSIN security at all times;    
    • Prepare a list requesting APD citations for customers who have appeared in court; close cases processed through the counter in CourtView.

     Calendaring Duties
     
    • Receive requests for trials, select trial date based on policies and procedures, and log into the master calendar;    
    • Respond to written and telephonic inquiries regarding calendar dates and requests for continuance;    
    • Process requests to set aside and reopen default judgments;    
    • Assist public counter; perform back-up in-court clerk duties for traffic hearings if needed.
     
    Work Hours
    Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week.  The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.  This position may be assigned to work weekends temporarily if needed. Clerk is to work both Saturday & Sunday and have 2 days off during the week.

    Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

    Substitution:

    Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

    Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.

    Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.

    KEYBOARDING CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
