Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Transportation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate should have either a degree in Construction Management and three to five years’ experience or the equivalent in experience and education in a related field. Successful candidate must possess supervisory skills and the ability to read blueprints, write reports and act as a liaison among government entities. Demonstrated budgeting and supervisory experience. Knowledge and understanding of Tribal Governments and Natural Resource issues. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, policies and procedures relative to the management of Natural Resources, Transportation and the environment. Oversee Emergency Operation Plans, Emergency Action Plans, Standard Operation Plans, and Continuity of Operations Plans in respect to Federal Standards. Demonstrated organizational and planning skills. Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
