    The Team:
This position is part of the Traffic Engineering Section within the Traffic and Safety Bureau. We are a section of ten full-time staff and we’re responsible for telling people where to go!  We do this by staying up-to-date with highway signing guidance, using it to design signs, and incorporating the designs into the Iowa DOT’s project plans.

Want to join our team? Here are few things you should know:

As a Transportation Engineer Associate, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
    • Providing technical assistance to district staff – you’ll develop your knowledge of all things related to signing.
    • Preparing project plans for two statewide sign programs – you’ll make decisions about what signs say and where they get placed.
    • Working with the DOT’s sign shop to create the signs – you’ll have input on whether the signs are just right.
    Location: Ames

Shift Requirements: Days, typically Monday-Friday, but flexible scheduling is available. Telework option. Some travel.

     - Optional 401A plan with employer contributions.
