CT Consultants, an industry leader in transportation and land use planning, is searching for a Planner to join the planning and transportation team. The Planner position is an early-career planning position with preference for our Columbus, OH office, but with the potential to be based out of the Mentor or Cincinnati offices. Individuals hired into this position are expected to have a basic understanding of planning and land use. The position is primarily responsible for assisting the planning team and transportation division in creating plans, planning documents, and land use codes.
Typical Functions And Responsibilities- Performs research and data analysis for planning projects.
- Contribute and collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers.
- Develops graphics and layouts for plans.
- Attend meetings and public engagement events as needed, to include off-hours and out-of-area meetings as needed to support clients and projects.
- Assists in developing planning studies and reports.
(CT Encourages all individuals to apply, even if they do not possess all of the desired proficiencies)- Ability to analyze data and create maps using ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Online.
- Knowledge of urban design programs such as SketchUp or Urban Footprint.
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and/or related programs.
- Oral communication and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly to the public.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to gather relevant information to solve practical problems.
- Ability to facilitate in-person and virtual public participation activities.
- Understanding of how to access, utilize, and analyze U.S. Census data.
- A master’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Geography/GIS, or a related field
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in any of these fields, with one year of experience as a full-time planner.
- CT Consultants will also consider other combinations of experience and education.
