Veterinary Assistant prepares treatment room for examination of animals; restrains animals during examination, treatment, or inoculation. Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. Looking for a full time Vet Tech, preferably with experience, but willing to train. Under direction of the Veterinarian we are looking for someone with compassion, medical knowledge.
Duties may include
-Performing diagnostic tests and x-rays.
-Administering medications, vaccines and treatments.
-Observing, reporting and caring on hospital cases.
-Restraining animals for surgery, examinations and treatments.
-Preparing animals and instruments for surgery.
-Administering anesthesia and assisting during medical procedures.
-Recording animal case histories.
-Educate animal owners on home care and discharge procedures.
-Assist in the upkeep of the clinic by cleaning when needed and required.
-Kennel duties are required on a rotation basis during the weekend or as needed.
Schedule is 4 days a week, between 36-40 hours. Kennel rotation required. Must be willing to work least one weekend a month or more if needed or on holidays.
