Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Hi! We're an expanding 4 FTE dog/cat veterinary hospital in Chico. We've been here since 1903 with multi-generational clients. Alongside our full lab suite we are a completely paperless hospital with Ezyvet/VetRadar, utilizing ipads and slack for record keeping and communication.
We are a day practice with 30 minute appointment slots, no night shifts expected. The ideal candidate must have experience in a veterinary hospital. All support staff members are cross-trained. We believe in enhancing the client experience so that they have one point of contact throughout their visit to the hospital, as much as logistically possible. Heavy use of diagnostics, dentals, and surgeries is part of our normal practice flow. We have board certified veterinary surgeons that come twice a month for orthopedic surgeries and other.
Please detail veterinary experience level and familiarity with ezyvet, vetradar, venipuncture, catheterization, cystocentesis, radiograph taking, tonometry, measuring blood pressure.
