    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies (the Kids Center) is seeking a strategic, organized, creative, adaptable, and confident Fundraising and Communications leader to help navigate the organization through a period of strong growth and impact, in order to serve hundreds of families throughout our community. This individual will lead the Development and Communications team in all strategic and operational initiatives, driving our mission forward.

    Reporting to the President/CEO, the Vice President (VP), Development serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the Kids Center. In partnership with the President/CEO, this position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities, including marketing and public relations. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build the Kids Center's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The VP, Development also will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key internal and external alliances by cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding individual gifts and philanthropic support.

    Candidate Profile And Responsibilities

    The VP, Development will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to rapidly grow into a $3 million development and marketing annual budget through the solicitation of major gifts, estate/planned gifts, annual fund, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate/foundation support. They will lead the team that executes all fundraising and external communications efforts.

    The VP, Development will divide their time between fundraising initiatives, donor relations, marketing/communications, administration of systems, and development team infrastructure and support. In addition, the VP will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role. The VP, Development will take on a hybrid workplace approach; with some time devoted to being in the office and other time working from home or in a donor meeting capacity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Fundraising: Actively work with the President/CEO, senior staff, and board to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include individual, corporate, foundation, and government support. This will be completed through annual giving, major giving, events, grants, planned giving, and other support mechanisms. Direct responsibility for their own portfolio of donors/grantors. Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors. Have primary responsibility for development activities and execution of all proposals. Focus on donor relationship management with a long-term approach.
    • Marketing/Communications: Collaborate with the Chief Clinical and Operating Officer (COO) to develop and implement the Kids Center's program services, innovation and outreach strategies. Oversee all public relations efforts.
    • Metrics/Trends: Develop and maintain dashboard to track all fundraising and external communications initiatives (including proposals, grants, pipeline, etc.). Oversee/research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position the Kids Center ahead of major funding changes or trends in the marketplace. Provide and present statistical analyses to board and senior leaders.
    • Board Relations: Plan and help execute a Board Comprehensive Campaign Task Force. Works closely with the Board to increase fundraising engagement.
    • Leadership: Identify, develop, mentor and coach the development team in existing and emerging fundraising and communications strategies.
    • Budget & Finance: Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Administration on budget, billing and financial strategies.

    Position Qualifications

    • High energy and passion for the Kids Center mission is essential;
    • 7-10 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising organizations and proven success in the development function;
    • Demonstrated development experience with a particular focus on identifying and successfully pursuing private and public funding opportunities;
    • Tangible donor cultivation experience with existing donor relationships in healthcare, human services, social services and/or higher education;
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; including the implementation of an annual strategic development plan;
    • Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships;
    • Strong public speaking skills and community image, in order to be a public ambassador of the Kids Center;
    • Adaptable leadership style who can think strategically and operationally;
    • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the Kids Center;
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and/or CFRE certification preferred;
    • Strong time management skills with exceptional attention to detail;
    • Demonstarted focus on developing and maintaining strong relationships with all organizational stakeholders.

    Compensation And Benefits

    Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies is prepared to offer a base salary in the range of $105,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience. Other Benefits include health insurance, disability and life insurance, a 457B annual company contribution up to $5,000/year, annual variable compensation up to 12.5%, a 401k match at 3%, and paid time off.
