Easterseals Hawaii is looking for a capable, creative, and entrepreneurial Vice President of Development to build and oversee the fundraising and development program for the organization. The position is responsible for building a pipeline of all types of donors, including corporate, foundation, and high-net-worth donors as well as stewarding current donors. The Vice President is responsible for ensuring multimillion-dollar development revenue and program goals are met within all island counties that make up Hawaii. This position ensures implementation of effective donor and funder programs in the community, donor cultivation and stewardship, fundraising and other experiential community events, and communications by providing inspirational leadership, supervision, and mentorship, developing strong relationships in the community, and supporting staff and volunteers to reach market potential and beyond. The Vice President of Development is accountable for development revenue generation and community cultivation activities for Easterseals Hawaii. This position will report to the CEO of Easterseals Hawaii with a dotted line report to the Catalight Foundation Chief Development Officer. *Remote within the islands of Hawaii* ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Successfully develop and execute the ESH fundraising and community events strategy to meet fundraising and development revenue, community visibility and budget targets. Identify, recruit, develop, and activate diverse leadership of both corporate and lay volunteers in all phases of development revenue generation activities and community impact goals. Engage in and be responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, partnership, and stewardship. Use analytics to understand and influence trends, cost per dollar raised ratios, and monitor and evaluate development operations. Keep Chief Development Officer and CEO of Easterseals Hawaii apprised of progress against targets, successes, and challenges. Secure at least 5- and 6- figure sponsorships, major donor gifts, foundation gifts and grants. Serve as a senior member of the Easterseals Hawaii team as well as the Catalight Foundation Development Team. Partner with members of the development team for process and administrative support. Plan for future organizational growth within the ESH development function. Track all appropriate donor contacts and activity in the organization’s CRM, Bloomerang. Accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO of Easterseals Hawaii or the Chief Development Officer. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent to: 8 years work experience in fundraising or outside sales experience, preferably with a voluntary health organization. Experience in closing six to seven figure gifts is required. 3 years of management experience. Expertise in mentoring and developing fundraising staff is preferred. Demonstrated results in identifying, cultivating, closing, and stewarding $6-7 figure gifts. Experience in building relationships and converting them into long-term donors. Bachelor’s degree in behavior health, administration, business/marketing, social science, or a related field or equivalent work experience highly preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Strong ability to establish and implement a strategic plan across functional areas and disciplines in a sophisticated and highly dynamic environment, successfully translating strategies to measurable goals and plans. Sensitivity to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population. A commitment to the purpose and values of the organization while demonstrating good judgment, sound decision-making skills, flexibility, patience, and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters. Extensive knowledge and experience engaging and understanding Hawaii’s culture and philanthropic community. Knowledge of all state and local compliance laws related to the job function. Demonstrated background and willingness to work in an atmosphere requiring flexibility, creativity, independence, and adaptability. Proficient in current job-related technology, e.g., Microsoft Office, PowerPoint. Highly self-motivated, accountable, results oriented and able to manage day-to-day responsibilities with or without supervision. Impeccable interpersonal skills. Able to work comfortably with individuals at all levels within the organization. Exceptional verbal, presentation and writing communication skills; inspire others. Physical Requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively within the work environment, read and write using the primary language in the workplace. Visual and auditory ability to work with donors, clients, staff, and others in the workplace continuously. Frequent speaking and listening (25-75%) to donors, clients, staff, and others in the workplace. Utilize computer and cell phone for effective communication. Works a flexible schedule as necessary, including additional weekend or evening hours for special events or deadlines. Ability to utilize virtual meetings software (Zoom, Teams, etc.). Frequent travel requirements throughout the islands and once or twice a year to the mainland. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The People & Performance Department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position. Ability to obtain and maintain clearance through the Office of Inspector General. Able to travel to multiple work sites and donor meetings. Reliable transportation needed. Must attend any required training.
