Waste Water Treatment Technician ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly. Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Being a Waste Water Treatment Technician collects water samples for chemical analysis. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Technician typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Waste Water Treatment Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. About the role Position Description: The Wastewater Technician I is an entry level position responsible to safely perform the following fundamental tasks: waste stream sampling, off-loading tanker trucks, waste stream QA/QC, bench testing, and waste stream treat code assignments. The WWTT is expected to have a general mechanical understanding of liquids management. Specifically, via hose connection/removal, pump function / operation, and valves management. Responsibilities: Perform basic chemical analysis such as pH, flash point, FOG, solids, and ammonia. Operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to pressure washers, power tools, hand trucks, forklifts, and other power tools in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Sampling tanker trucks and containers. Connecting the hose and unloading of tanker trucks. Use basic oil line and wastewater treatment line operations. Submit all associated paperwork, as required, for regulatory and safety record keeping requirements. Requirements: < 1 year of experience Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, bend, and twist for extended periods of time.
