May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Technician typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Waste Water Operator to join our team. As a Waste Water Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This is a vital role in our organization, as you will play a key part in protecting the environment and public health.
Duties:
- Collect and analyze data from various sources to monitor the performance of wastewater treatment processes
- Operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, valves, blowers, mixers, and chemical feed systems
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure proper functioning of equipment
- Monitor and adjust process variables such as flow rates, chemical dosages, and pH levels
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or adjustments
- Conduct laboratory tests on wastewater samples to assess treatment efficiency
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and laboratory results
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to all environmental regulations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in water or wastewater treatment is preferred
- Previous experience in water or wastewater treatment operations is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and work in physically demanding conditions
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment techniques, and related equipment
- Familiarity with plumbing systems and basic knowledge of logic controllers (PLCs)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and communicate information clearly
