Web Software Developer designs and develops software solutions for websites and mobile applications that engage users and meet business requirements. Supports web administrators and designers through the full development lifecycle and contributes to the development of new site features. Being a Web Software Developer develops, implements, and debugs software code. Designs and develops the web infrastructure including back-end database development and the construction of SQL queries via CGI scripting. Additionally, Web Software Developer requires knowledge of web technologies and tools such as CSS, JavaScript, HTML, PERL, PHP, Active Server Pages, SQL, and C++. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Web Software Developer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     7:00am - 6:00pm during the Summer Months.

    This position offers remote work allowing employees a combination of onsite and work from home options. The expected remote work schedule for this position is determined by the hiring manager once training is complete.

    Job Summary





    Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is looking for a Software Developer experienced in web development in PHP or a similar object-oriented language. The SCC websites are built in Drupal 10, making Drupal expertise preferred for this position. You will develop technology-based solutions, including web applications and database systems.
    • Front-end and/or back-end development
    • Updating and maintaining Drupal modules
    • Supporting websites, integrations, and applications
    • Theming with Bootstrap 5.3x

    Additional Responsibilities:
    • Developing custom code and modules per college business requirements
    • Third party integrations and web services
    • Implementing theme changes per specifications
    • Troubleshooting and resolving technical, compliance, and optimization issues
    • Communicating resolutions to the appropriate stakeholders
    • Thoroughly testing updates
    • Researching, implementing, and testing web accessibility standards


    Essential Functions



    30% - Web Development: Creates and modifies code, tests and debugs applications; updates modules, monitors and troubleshoots system issues; performs system applications and/or database system maintenance; provides technical support for production and system/application performance

    30% - Resolves service tickets with a high level of customer satisfaction; anticipates issues and risks in coding and development; resolves or escalates appropriately; assists in the development, documentation, maintenance, and training of programming standards, procedures, data files, system interfaces, and records

    20% - Creates and updates content in the content management system

    20% - Keeps up with the latest trends and emerging technologies and their application to web development and shares knowledge with team members; researches, evaluates, and tests development hardware and software. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications



    Bachelor's Degree in information technology or directly related field and two years of technical experience in programming, systems analysis, design and development of system software and applications.

    OR

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

    Desired Qualifications

    Your resume should indicate the years of full-time work and/or part-time experience for each of the following skills:
    1. Drupal front-end or back-end development
    2. Web development using PHP or similar language
    3. Database maintenance and troubleshooting
    4. Theming responsive websites
    5. Implementing web accessibility standards in code or content
    6. Resolving technical issues and documenting solutions


    Special Working Conditions


    • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
    • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
    • May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
    • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
    • This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department and college.
