Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers, following all traffic laws and reporting any accidents or violations, securing loads and arranging within the vehicle, ensuring all mechanical issues are corrected before driving, planning routes and meeting delivery schedules, performing maintenance of vehicle such as refueling, cleaning, etc.
Must have at least two years experience OTR experience driving trucks, buses, vans, 18-wheelers, air brakes, lowboy trailers, CDL license class A, TWIC card and a clean driving record.
