Welder jobs in Washington
Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Shift: M-F Swing- shift differential applies
Major Duties- Review blue prints and job specifications with supervisor. Learn to set-up welder current, amperage, and gas flows to the prescribed settings for material being welded.
- Develop skills required to set up parts that are tacked or fixtured for welding.
- Weld components together meeting AWS D1.1 standards or greater.
- Check dimensions and tolerances after welding and cooling. Use industries standard methods to straighten, ream, and debur as required.
- Provide technical direction and support to welder trainees.
- Participate in insuring a safe work environment through best practices including promoting of all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, maintenance of a 5S work station.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and welding, engineering and material specifications.
Must be proficient in MIG, FCAW and tack welding, and standard metal working tools.
Must have solid math, dimensional and reading skills, and also be able to use a tape measure.- Minimum 2years experience.
