JOB SUMMARY: To support engineering/production by performing tasks of moderate complexity that involves machining, fabricating, assembling, documenting, testing, and evaluating devices or fixtures. PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs tasks of moderate complexity involving the machining, fabrication, documentation and assembly of various devices and fixtures. Works from drawings, detailed sketches or verbal instructions where processes, materials, layout, types of components and dimensions are specified. Ability to design and fabricate devices and fixtures based on requirements. Knows the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job Assists in the evaluation of materials and methods. May assist in documenting and maintaining engineering drawings Sourcing of materials for a project Setting up facilities via prototypes, constructing and installing in house built items. FULL KNOWLEDGE OF: Materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of cabinet manufacturing. Metal composition and reaction to heat from welding. Welding techniques to prevent warping and pulling during construction Applications for hot rolled and cold rolled steel Observes tests on welded surfaces when required Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Clamping methods to weld various joint styles Production processes Measuring methods to conform to specifications Performs troubleshooting, calibration, failure analysis or modification of test hardware, fixtures, software, and lab equipment. This may include production or customer supplied equipment. Modifications are made when necessary. Will assist in outlining change procedures. Can assist in supporting manufacturing activities through the resolution of production problems, preparation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, labor performance documentation, and implementation of cost reductions and methods improvement. Reviews proposed changes and new designs and recommends changes. SELF MANAGEMENT: Performs work of a miscellaneous nature as required. Ability to respond immediately to emergency requests Must be able to manage several projects in process at one time. Able to travel to other locations and be present for a week at a time. Completes required purchase orders, expense report. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend basic verbal and written communications, instructions, procedure manuals, safety rules, and product labeling. Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, including use of trigonometry when necessary Ability to troubleshoot and arrive at acceptable solutions Ability to complete required documentation Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Must be willing to follow directions from management Ability to work as a team and interact in a professional and courteous manner with coworkers. Must exhibit desirable and appropriate professional behavior including integrity, ability to learn, results orientation, sense of urgency and a quality focus to provide for a cohesive, productive unit dedicated to the achievement of the company and department goals.
